Deal Signed, Expansion is On the Way

With the deal signed, expansion is on the way for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. They were pleased to announce that they have signed a $110 million financing deal with Key Bank to pay for the expansion that they are putting forth of their Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. They will be expanding the casino and consolidating the Mohawk Bingo Palace, as well as building a new 150 room hotel for their guests to stay at. There are some of the best casinos online for sure, but when this is done it is bound to outshine many of the land based ones out there today.

The financing that they got will allow them to do all of the construction and relocation that they need plus they will be able to consolidate all of the existing debt that the casino has. This palace is bound to be unlike many of them out there and they can’t wait for their patrons to see what they are missing by going to online casinos. The project is going to have four stages with the first one already having began.

They started in October and that was completed in November – it was the relocation of the existing slots. Then they were starting the remodeling in January which only took about a month. They then have the third phase which has not be completed which was the actual remodeling and not just the planning of it, with the fourth stage being the addition of all of the other steps which should be completed by May 2013. Copies of information in regards to the expansion will surely be available on http://www.youtube.com/.

Censorship is Wrong No Matter Where it Is

According to major news outlets like FOX News, there is currently a bill sitting in Congress that would allow the government to control the Internet. The bill would allow them to censor what is on there, and would take away the rights of the many to give the government more control. There is obviously a big push from the online gambling movement as they feel that this is simply one more way for them to be able to censor and block online casino games from those that wish to play them.

The bills are the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA). These bills would force Internet providers to block any and all websites that are possibly violating copyright or trademark legislation and would make them responsible for failing to keep track of what their users are doing when they are on the Internet. They say that it is an attempt to block those sites that are breaking the law, but many say that this is a much bigger picture because it takes it out of the hands of the many and puts it in the hands of the few.

Those that are for it say that it could stop the spread of child pornography on the web, which most agree is a good thing to stop. However, the law would not just target that one area, instead Internet gambling would also be under fire as would any and all websites that are currently out there. They are asking you to sign the online petitions that are out there to keep online gambling from being blocked and to keep our freedoms, or at least what we have left of them, intact.

Politics and Gambling

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to get a bill passed in the legislature. The governmental politics that run the bill passage system in our country are such a mess that it is impossible to get anything accomplished. Even if both sides totally agree on an issue they won’t pass it unless it was their “side” that suggested it. This is what makes everything come to a standstill and gets very little accomplished. Look at the idea of online gaming. There was the idea of getting it legalized and regulated, and that little idea has been sitting there for how many years now? There were many that said that President Obama would get the UIGEA overturned – but we are almost finished with his first term and we are seemingly no closer to that happening than we were when he first came to office.

There are many asking if we should just continue to play illegally and circumvent the system, or if we should keep wasting money to try and get something passed that has a snowballs chance in you know where of happening. With so many lobby groups and politicians on both sides fighting for and against it, it is no wonder that nothing has happened yet. The politicians can’t get out of their own way when it comes to simply passing things that are agreeable so how will they do it when they don’t agree? They don’t.

You can go on Yahoo and look up online gaming and see all the stuff that is there that relates to it. All this does is serve to remind us that we are spinning our wheels in trying to get anything accomplished. Even if Obama does not get in next time and a Republican does, still nothing will change because that is the way of the Washington DC world.
